Yes, I am completely serious.
I only found out in the morning that the jab was that day, which was a pleasing surprise. I joined the queue to for the jab just at the end of break time- a strategic manoeuvre on my part, as that meant I got to miss half of my English Language lesson
Anyway, the sports hall was full of squealing, fainting girls. My friend Megan, who I had gone to get the vaccination with, was practically hyperventilating! A few people even fainted. It seemed like I was the only calm person in the whole place!
You see, I like injections. When the nurse had finished with one girl, out of the entire hall, I was the only one who stepped forward- the other girls were just nervous I think, but surely it would be better to just get it over with if that was the case! Granted, though, the previous girl's jab had not gone well. As the nurse took the needle out, she tensed her muscles and blood squirted all down her arm.
I sat down, all ready and excited for my injection. The needle was amazing- I hadn't seen one that long in ages! It was about half the length of my pointer finger. After answering a series of questions I whipped up my sleeve, relaxed my arm, and felt a rush of sheer pleasure as the long, cold needle slid into the soft joint between my shoulder and upper arm. Call me a masochist all you like! Injections are a rare pleasure for me. It's nothing sexual, don't worry!- I just think they feel good. And I admit, the slight feelings of arrogance that I get when I see that I'm the only person not worried is smile-inducing, too!
My arm is now achy and a little inflamed, but it's nothing I can't deal with. I'm managing to write this easy enough! All I can think is- roll on January! That little sting of pain is just too delicious not to look forward too.
On another note, I've finished The Kite Runner long before the rest of my English class, and I'm willing myself not to spoil it for them! It was such a sad book, but it, along with the TV show Spooks (about MI5), has given me an idea for my 'In a Heartbeat' story! I'm not sure how, as the scene I'm thinking of is nothing like either of them, but I just know they were the things that inspired me.
